Low vision is the term used to describe any condition or injury that results in legal blindness. This can be from an eye disease (such as glaucoma or diabetic retinopathy) or from a physical injury to the eye.

We provide coping techniques, adaptation strategies, and tools that help our patients remain independent. Each person’s experience with low vision is unique- we work with our patients individually to help them move and function independently.

Understandably, low vision can be difficult for many people to work with. We’re here to improve our patient quality of life.

More Information About Low Vision

Many eye diseases can cause low vision, including age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The best way to assess your eye health is to have regular eye exams and to be proactive in your optical care.

Eye diseases like glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema, cataracts, as well as physical conditions (such as an injured eye or a retinal detachment), can all cause low vision.

Today there are more ways to adapt to low vision than ever before. Depending on the quality of vision remaining, you can use everything from magnifying lenses to specialized computer software that improves your ability to access content, read, write, and perform day to day tasks.

We will coach you through an adaptation strategy, where we help you regain your independence by assisting your adaptation to low vision.

  • The Office Staff is great and they are willing to take care of their patients. I had an emergency appointment and Dr. Nock drove in to see me, which is really great and saved me the time of trying to find another person that could see.
